Samsung made a record KRW 73.98 trillion (approx. $63.2 billion) in revenue during Q3 2021. The figure marks a healthy ten percent year-on-year (YoY) increase from a year earlier when it made a then-record KRW 66.96 in revenue. The South Korean firm also made a whopping KRW 15.82 trillion (approx. $13.5 billion) in operating profit this past quarter. It’s the second-highest quarterly profit in the company’s history and the highest in the past three years....

According to SamMobile, who first reported this rollout, the Galaxy S20 FE (4G) is receiving the January SMR with firmware version G780FXXS8DVA1 for the Exynos 990-powered units. The same update for the Snapdragon 865 version of the phone is rolling out with firmware version G780GXXS3BVA5. The latest update for the 2020 Fan Edition Galaxy flagship is already available in dozens of countries in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Users in other markets, including the US, can also expect to receive the update in the coming weeks....

The Galaxy S21 series was the first to receive this month’s Android security update. Samsung first rolled out the new SMR with the third beta build of Android 12-based One UI 4.0. A few days later, Android 11 running Galaxy S21 units also started picking up the update, beginning in Europe. The Korean firm has since seeded the new security patch to the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S10 series, and the Galaxy A32 mid-ranger....

As of this writing, the Galaxy A53 5G is receiving the Android 13 update in Europe. The new firmware version for the phone is A536BXXU4BVJG (via). The rollout should cover entre Europe over the next few days and also expand to global markets, including the US. The device isn’t getting the latest, November security patch with this release. It remains on the October SMR (Security Maintenance Release). But we aren’t complaining as this update has plenty of other interesting things....

According to Snap’s press release announcing the acquisition, NextMind will continue to operate from its current location in Paris. But the neurotech firm will now work for Snap Lab, the company’s “cutting-edge hardware team” that focuses on AR. Along with Spectacles, Snap Lab is also working on a camera drone and other AR gadgets. Under Snap, NextMind will no longer pursue the development of its BCI hardware, The Verge has learned....
